Live-in PCA for an elderly woman in exchange for room & board, daytime hours compensated at $14/hour

This is a PCA position in exchange for room and board in our family home in downtown Amherst.

Our family is looking for a female helper to assist an elderly woman (my wife).
We are seeking someone, ideally a nurse in training, who is available to cover the night shift on weeknights (8 pm to 8 am). Nighttime help primarily consists of preparing my wife for bed, sleeping in her room during the night in order to assist her to the bathroom, bathing her in the morning, and supervising evening and morning medications.

In exchange for this help, the caregiver will have her own large, furnished bedroom in our house in Amherst. The caregiver will also have access to the shared kitchen and bathroom, and be provided with all meals. The house has wireless broadband Internet access and is on a quiet side street within walking distance of downtown Amherst.

There is also the possibility of working daytime hours as well, at the rate of $14/hour (before taxes). Daytime hours would involve some personal care tasks such as helping my wife eat and go to the bathroom. It would also involve simple lunch preparation, such as making a sandwich or heating up canned soup. The majority of the daytime care consists of providing companionship to my wife by sitting next to her and reading to her.

We would prefer that the applicants have some experience in working with elders, but are open to all candidates.

Satellite Internet Service

I will need to have high speed internet installed at my home in the greater Orange area. I am looking for people who have had experience with either Wild Blue or Hughesnet for high speed internet service.

Please let me know the good and the bad...

I will need this connection for work but will probably end up using it more for surfing and web-based games if I have it. Your experiences will be the deciding factor for me... I especially want to hear the bad about service interruptions, reliability and customer service.
